According to foreign media reports, although the 2025 BMW X3 has just been launched in the United States, customers who have purchased the car have already encountered some troubles. BMW has stated that the suspension steering pivot of this SUV has quality issues.

The BMW internal combustion engine X3 uses a poorly machined suspension steering pivot, which is a component that connects all the front suspension parts and can rotate with the wheels, being a very important load-bearing component.

During the assembly process, technicians noticed that some of the left-side steering pivot joints did not meet the standard, and the holes in the aluminum castings were too large, causing the part to be unable to withstand excessive stress. BMW believes that over time, this fault could lead to the part cracking, affecting the vehicle’s handling and controllability. In the worst case, it could lead to an accident.

Fortunately, so far BMW has not received any reports from owners of the 2025 X3 related to this issue, and when BMW checked the production records of the parts supplier, it was found that only two vehicles had been equipped with the faulty component.

Some car manufacturers may take several years to initiate repair procedures after a problem is discovered, but BMW is different – the company’s actions have been quite swift. BMW discovered the fault on November 7 and notified dealers to recall the vehicles on December 5. Dealers will contact affected owners in January next year to arrange for the full replacement of the suspension strut.

The fourth-generation BMW X3 was first unveiled in June this year, equipped with a standard mild hybrid system and BMW’s latest curved instrument panel display. However, the model does not come with an electric powertrain, so consumers who want to buy an electric X3 will have to wait until the launch of the iX3 next year.
