According to foreign media reports, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, founder of Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, established an electric vehicle charging company called V-Green on March 18. He said the company will operate globally and prioritize support for VinFast vehicles.

Vuong, who holds 90% of V-Green’s shares, said in a statement that the electric vehicle charging company will operate with global partners and take the lead in creating a high-coverage charging network. “V-Green will directly seek out sites and partners to build and expand its charging network in VinFast’s key markets,” Vuong said.

Vuong founded VinFast in 2017 and the company, which listed on Nasdaq last year, has previously said it would expand its operations to at least 50 countries by 2024.

In Vietnam, V-Green will be responsible for operating and managing VinFast’s existing charging network, and will consider extending charging services to other electric vehicle manufacturers after five years of operation to provide charging services for other brands of electric vehicles. Vuong revealed that in the next two years, V-Green will invest approximately US$404 million to build new charging piles and upgrade the charging network.

Last year, Vuong also founded electric taxi operator Green SM. In 2023, 72% of VinFast’s total electric vehicle sales will come from this company.
