Kia Motor Corp reported yesterday that it sold 261,022 vehicles worldwide in April this year, up 0.6 percent from a year earlier, and its total sales in the first four months of 2024 exceeded 1 million vehicles, down 0.6 percent from a year earlier.

Despite relatively flat overall sales, Kia’s pure electric vehicle sales continue to grow rapidly. The South Korean manufacturer said it expects electric vehicle sales to maintain good momentum after the launch of the new all-electric EV3 and upgraded EV6 in the second half of 2024.
According to Kia, its retail sales of pure electric vehicles reached 17,140 units in April, up 90 percent from a year earlier, and the share of electric vehicles in the brand’s total sales reached almost 7 percent.
Wholesale shipments of Kia’s E-GMP based models, which are closely tied to production, were 8,904 units, down 6 percent year on year, and this includes the EV3, EV6 and EV9 produced in South Korea and the EV5 produced in China.
The company’s best-selling electric model was the Kia EV6, which sold 5,728 units (down 39 percent year over year). We believe that the performance of the upgraded version of EV6 will improve when it becomes available. The House of IT has attached the insideevs statistical chart below:
