Honda hasn’t released many electric models so far. Currently, the company’s only electric vehicles on sale are the Honda e city model sold in Europe and Asia, and the Prologue SUV, which is about to hit the North American market. In addition, the company’s high-performance brand Acura will soon launch an electric model called ZDX.
Honda aims to have 30 electric models and 2 million annual sales by 2030, sell 100 percent zero-emission vehicles by 2040, and make “all of its products and corporate activities” carbon neutral by 2050.
However, Honda has also encountered some setbacks in its electrification process. The company recently scrapped plans to partner with General Motors to produce a line of affordable electric vehicles.GM’s self-driving unit Cruise (Honda is also one of its investors) has also encountered trouble. Cruise has currently suspended all operations after one of its self-driving cars hit a pedestrian.
