Porsche officials recently announced that driver Lars Kern has achieved a record lap time of 7 minutes 07 second 55 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a pre-production new Porsche Taycan!

What concept? This is 18 seconds faster than the previous electric car champion Tesla Model S Plaid, and a full 26 seconds faster than the time set by the 2022 Taycan Turbo S!

This time makes the new Taycan the fastest four-door sedan in the New York North, dramatically outpacing other fuel-guzzling high-performance four-doors, as well as a host of sports cars, such as the Cayman GT4 RS (7:09), the BMW M4 CSL (7:18), and just two seconds behind the Rimac Nevera (the fastest electric car on the planet, in a non-production version).

The person in charge of this model series said:

“In motorsport, where 26 seconds is basically the equivalent of ‘half a lifetime’, Lars’ time of 7 minutes 07.55 seconds at the Nürburgring is phenomenal and puts the Taycan on the same level as electric supercars”. “Impressively, after those laps, Lars ran almost exactly the same time.”

Unfortunately, Porsche has yet to reveal any official information about the parameters of this new model, or even confirm the name of the car.

Some reports have speculated that the car, which may be named the Turbo GT, will be powered by a triple-motor that will produce up to 1,000bhp, close to the 1,020bhp of the Tesla Model S Plaid, as well as improved floor pans and new carbon-fibre aerodynamic components.
