On March 25, Nissan unveiled its latest three-year plan, saying it will launch 30 new models over the next three years and hopes to boost its global sales by 1 million while cutting costs to boost profitability.
On the same day, Nissan also said that in the fiscal year ending March 2027, its operating margin will be more than 6 percent, and the total return to shareholders will be more than 30 percent.

Nissan was a pioneer in electric vehicles with its all-electric Leaf model, but its electric vehicle business is facing big challenge by U.S. rival Tesla and Chinese leader BYD. Nissan and Honda Motor announced this month that they would consider a strategic partnership to cooperate on key auto-parts for electric vehicles and other areas.
Nissan expects pure electric vehicles to account for about a fifth of its global sales by 2027, vehicles using hybrid-power trains to account for another fifth, and cars using only internal combustion engines to make up the remaining 60 percent. The Japanese automaker now aims for electric vehicles, including hybrids, to account for 60 percent of its global sales by the end of the decade, higher than its 55 percent target in February 2023.
Of the 30 new vehicles, 16 will be electrified, including eight pure electric models and four plug-in hybrid models. Nissan also plans to reduce the cost of its next generation of electric vehicles by 30 percent, hoping to make electric cars comparable in price to internal combustion engine models by 2030.
In addition, Nissan plans to introduce a new electric three-row SUV model in the fiscal year ending March 2029. Compared to the Ariya model, the three-row model has a 50% reduction in charging time and a 50% increase in energy density.
In the United States and Canada, Nissan expects to launch seven new vehicles and revamp 78 percent of its lineup for the Nissan brand, as well as electric and plug-in hybrid models. In the Chinese market, Nissan plans to launch eight new-energy vehicles in the Chinese market, four of which will be Nissan brand models. In Europe, Nissan will launch six new models.
Nissan said it will explore new partnerships in the United States and Japan, while in other regions such as Europe, India and Latin America it will continue to leverage its long-standing alliances with Renault and Mitsubishi Motors. Nissan also plans to invest in electric car maker Fisker or use its platform to produce electric pickup trucks.
