Toyota’s Sales and Production Reach an All-time High in The Last Fiscal Year

Thanks to the strong market demand and an easing of semiconductor supply problems, Toyota breaking its record on global production and sales in the last fiscal year (April 2023 to March 2024).

 

According to data released by Toyota Motor, Toyota’s global sales in the last fiscal year, including sales of Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motor, rose 5% compared to a year earlier and reach 11.1 million for the first time. Toyota’s sales in China also rose 1.4 percent year on year.

 

Toyota’s global production rose 4.5% to 11.2 million last fiscal year compared to a year earlier due to strong demand in North America, Europe and India.

 

It is worth to notice that Toyota sold 116,654 pure electric vehicles worldwide in the last fiscal year, which is more than threefold increase from the previous year.

Meanwhile, Honda Motor and Nissan Motor also reported their production and sales data for the past fiscal year.

 

Honda’s global sales rose 12 percent year on year to 4.1m vehicles. Nissan produced 3.4 million vehicles worldwide, which rose 3.9% from a year earlier.

 

However, Toyota Motor, Honda Motor and Nissan Motor are still facing sales and production problems in March.

 

Toyota sold 941,222 vehicles globally in March, down 7.4% from a year earlier, hurt by declines in countries such as Thailand and Indonesia. Production was 886,136 units, down 15.9% year-on-year.

 

Honda’s global sales rose slightly in March, but production fell 19 percent from a year earlier. Nissan’s global production fell 20 per cent in March from a year earlier.
