The Ford F-150 Lightning remained the most popular all-electric pickup in the United States in March. Tesla’s all-electric Cybertruck has more U.S. registrations than Rivian’s R1T, which went on sale in the fall of 2021 and initially outsold a slew of competitors.

In March, U.S. registrations of the Ford F-150 Lightning were 2,893, nearly three times as many as in the same month last year, the data show, and the electric pickup’s release date is 2022; Tesla’s Cybertruck, which went on sale Nov. 30, has 1,158 registrations in the U.S. Rivian R1T registrations stood at 548 units, down 65% compared to March 2023.

In March, there were 319 U.S. registrations for the Chevrolet Silverado all-electric pickup truck, which went on sale last summer and starts at $74,900, including shipping; There are 192 U.S. registrations for the GMC Hummer pure electric pickup truck, which goes on sale in December 2021, and the model’s starting price is $98,845.

“In just four months, Cybertruck has surpassed 1,000 registrations, more than double the R1T,” the analyst said. Frankly, I was a little surprised. Cybertruck is very unique, and it’s interesting to see how quickly it can increase sales.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in October that the Cybertruck had amassed a million pre-orders from Tesla fans who paid a refundable $100 deposit before it went on sale.

However, after the official launch, the Tesla Cybertruck will start at $60,990 (excluding shipping), which is much higher than the $39,900 announced when it was first launched in November 2019. Tesla also offers a Foundation Series version starting at $99,990 (excluding shipping).

Unlike Tesla, which released the more expensive Founders’ Series Cybertruck, Rivian cut the base price of the R1T by $3,100 in February, and it now starts at $71,700, including shipping. The Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $57,009, including shipping.
